swap

last weekend bb & i got around to swapping our little house about. there is a lovely sunny room at the front of the house that we thought would make a great bedroom, plus it has built-in wardrobes! something no other room in our house has. whilst we were at it we moved some other rooms about too. there is still some tweaking to be done but here is a peek so far.

since moving to the twigs and especially since starting this blog i have really enjoyed taking photos. i have been thinking of getting a little camera for a while now and last week i saw one that i loved - mostly because it's red! so far i am really happy with it. these are some snaps i have taken over the last few days.

you may have heard that luke burgess from garagistes in hobart recently won the 2012 gourmet traveller best new talent award. what an amazing accolade! bb & i went to garagistes not long after we moved to tassie - we loved it! bb's dad was in town visiting at the time. he was such a fan of the amazing ridgeline pottery plates that he ordered his very own set. have a look at them here & here on the lovely 'occasional food fairy' blog.

being able to walk to work is such a treat. the last few weeks have brought some truly divine mornings - the perfect temperature and such gorgeous light. the walk back to the pit-stop is still a bit of a struggle (its so steep!) but bb & i feel so much better for it...i'm sure it will only get easier.

since bb & i have had the pit-stop we have made a point of seeing some music and checking out some of the great pubs about hobart. the republic bar in north hobart is becoming a bit of a favourite. sorry for the poor quality photos, my camera isn't used to being out at night.

i've driven by this gorgeous old petrol pump many times over the past year. last sunday i decided to stop & have a better look. up close, he was even more lovely than i had imagined.

bb & i had a lovely weekend spending time in the winter sun & in the twigs. all that time at home got us thinking about swapping our little house about. she is only teeny and we have started to think we can use her space more effectively than we have been. that is a job for next weekend but to prepare, i thought it would be nice to post some more photos of how she looks now.

i read lots of blogs by people living in the northern hemisphere. all winter long i have read about their beautiful summers. bbqs, the beach, long lovely days. recently, though there has been mention of cooler nights and a feeling that autumn is on its way.

yesterday was glorious here at home, the sun was shining, the birds were singing and i didn't wear a jacket all day. all this can only mean one thing - spring is definitely on its way to the twigs.  yippee!
