tim and i spent our sunday exploring the glorious tasman peninsula. amazing weather, a visit to the the bream creek farmers market and fish and chips in doo town..it was the perfect tassie comeback tour!

a weekend away...

last weekend, tim and i spent a couple of lovely days in the north of the state. we were there to celebrate the milestone birthday of a dear friend. some wonderful company, food and sunshine made for the perfect getaway. oh how i love tassie in summer...

yesterday was such a great day. firstly my dear friend ali was visiting from sydney with his lovely partner alex...it was so great to see them.  ali is a brilliant photographer and was here to shoot the launch of an amazing cider being made right here in the twigs.  i was so excited to spend a glorious afternoon listening to some beautiful tunes, meeting new people and sipping this fabulous drink made of huon valley apples. what a treat!

a weekend project

over a year ago i bought this cable spool to use at the twigs as an outdoor table. since we moved into hobart it has sat under a tarp waiting to see the sun. then a couple of months ago i saw a pair of rusty chairs at the tip shop for $1 each.

i thought they would look sweet with the cable table so my lovely husband spent a couple of hours sanding them back for me (thank you x).

yesterday, the weather was perfect for painting so i got to work to finish them off and i'm quite happy with the result.

i used some washi tape i already had to cover the legs and armrests of the chairs & as soon as my new order arrives (i ran out after one chair) i will finish the other one so we can sit in the sun together.

new norfolk - old bits

bb and i went for a drive to new norfolk on the weekend. we explored some of the amazing antiques and collectable shops out there. we hadn't visited for a while so there was lots of new spots to explore and things to see. the drill hall emporium is always a favourite and this visit didn't disappoint. we also stopped in at 20th century artefacts and the willow court antique centre. such great collections, we could have spent days searching through everything on offer! 

equality

bb & i attended a rally in hobart yesterday to support the proposed change to legalise same-sex marriage in tasmania.  it was a horrible gloomy winters day so it was lovely to see that so many people turned up to support this important cause. exciting times on the apple aisle.

max & ruby

i was so excited yesterday when we dropped mabel off at club k9 to meet 2 little whippet babies & their lovely mum!  ruby and max are absolutely divine and this morning we were so lucky to have them come over to play with mabel. it was the perfect way to start the weekend.

north & south

bb, mabel & i have spent the last 2 saturday nights at the far ends of our beautiful state.

last saturday we headed north to spend a night on the top edge of the island. 24 hours full of tasty treats (vongole pasta, my favourite!) lovely buddies and beautiful blue skies.

then last night we took a trip south. back to where it all began. we spent a glorious night with the first friends we made when we moved here. so great to see them and so lovely to spend a night rugged up in their gorgeous farm house. life is good...

friends, wine & cheese

last night bb & i had a lovely time at the hill street wine and cheese club. i always love a trip to the hill street grocer but this was a real treat. 

we learnt about some amazing cheeses and tassie wines and got to share the experience with some delightful locals...

and to top it all off - after many many months of online chatter it was so so lovely to finally meet kate from the apple aisle. a truly lovely lady...

cloudy bay

last weekend, bb and a gorgeous friend of ours spent a couple of nights on bruny island. we stayed in a renovated old church and spent our days exploring the island - driving from tip to tip. my favourite spot has to be cloudy bay. i didn't make it to the far south of the island when i visited in summer but i am so glad we got there this time.

mother's day

a few weeks ago bb, mabel and i spent a sunny sunday afternoon at kingston beach. we were helping a lovely friend out with her abc open project... i was asked to respond to the question "my mum is really good at..." this is the end result. happy mother's day mum!

mabel and i spent saturday helping my sweet friend jen take some photos to launch her delightful new tea towel designs. i think the new towels are gorgeous and miss mabel looks just lovely too.

i'm one year older today. bb & i celebrated with friends over the weekend by eating many meals out around hobart town. the highlights included:

• friday night snacks at westend pump house
• saturday breakfast at environs (we ate too quickly to take snaps of our delightful meal)
• amazing saturday dinner at garagistes
• sunday breakfast at ethos...
