cloudy bay

last weekend, bb and a gorgeous friend of ours spent a couple of nights on bruny island. we stayed in a renovated old church and spent our days exploring the island - driving from tip to tip. my favourite spot has to be cloudy bay. i didn't make it to the far south of the island when i visited in summer but i am so glad we got there this time.

franklin fair

bb & i visited the franklin fair last saturday. it was wet and misty but we still had a lovely time. bb was broadcasting sport vs everything for huon fm from the franklin school whilst i explored about. my favourite find of the day was the huge sequoia tree. it was planted in 1901 and now towers above the school buildings. bb spoke to a woman whose grandfather used to throw stones over the tree as a child. i love hearing little things like that about the valley.

warmer

i read lots of blogs by people living in the northern hemisphere. all winter long i have read about their beautiful summers. bbqs, the beach, long lovely days. recently, though there has been mention of cooler nights and a feeling that autumn is on its way.

yesterday was glorious here at home, the sun was shining, the birds were singing and i didn't wear a jacket all day. all this can only mean one thing - spring is definitely on its way to the twigs.  yippee!

the drive

ahhh the drive. this is what bb and i face each day. its one of those things that comes with living in the twigs and i have to say i have a love/hate relationship with it.

sometimes in the mornings the light is so amazing, we see the valley and the mountain in ways that make us feel we are so lucky to live in this part of the world.

on the other hand, its long, its curvy, its sometimes treacherous and very often dark - i suppose it is the price we pay for living where we do.
